I would firtly remove the starter and take it apart and clean it out. i had to tap mine because part of the armature was stuck in the back of the starter motor and a tap would make it release. I just greased that part up and it has worked fine ever since.

Good idea.

Your problem is a common symptom of brushes near the end of their life. Pull, strip, clean, new brushes - she should be sweet!

When I was at Supercheap the other day, they had Sierra strater motors cheaper that what I paid for a reco'd one. This was in Taylors Lakes, but I am sure their stock is similar all over.

There are a couple of different starter moters for 1.3's so check.....
