i'm think of build a comp rig with coil

my guestion is that most people use round tube for trailing arms but some poeple are starting to use Square tubeing

and i'm thinking of useing square tubeing for trailing arms but not sure what size of square tubeing to use so any help would be great on what size to use

just make them out of heavy walled SHS, but keep in mind what size rings youll be welding on the ends for bushes or what joints your going to use.

Even 12mm wall DOM will bend, dont waste your money on it, i would never build lower suspension links out of tube ever again, it bends so much easier than thinner walled square or rectangle section. Its all about the geometry

i have seen RHS used (20x50x6) on the rear of a GU, had a good solid life and no problems to date.

god luck, wish i did mine using it not tube. mine are 1200mm long and have bracing on the top edge and they can bend easily in a press (to see how much flex they arms had) and i recon theyll let go on the first rock. mine are superior heavy duty whatever they are.

i used 12mm hollowbar for my trailing arms on the mud4b (coily zook),
the rears were 1430mm long and i used em for sliders all the time and never had a problem.

i can see how square would work though too...not sure you can get it thickwall though..

I cannot see how square is going to be stronger than round tube. If you hit the square tube in the right spot it will bend.
