Hello people
I want to update the transmission output gear in the transfer case to the cross drilled type (Late 1994 disco auto) its got a fair clunk so i guess thats the problem. Can any one tell me were is the best place to get one?
I notice Ashcroft in the UK have them for about 70 pound for the gear and extension sharft + postage, is that a good price or can i get in Aus for about the same?

Also has any one got any sugestions for a suitable replacment Cam, late 1994 Disco 3.9 runs 99% on LPG?

Thanks

Any reputable LR parts place should have the gear and shaft, as they are (now) stock LR items. You need to know your ratio though.

e.g. places like four wheel drives, FWD in brisbane, etc...

Take the plate/cover off the rear of the TC and check to see if the gear has been replaced (most should have been under warranty) and if it has not whether it is stuffed before doing anything.

Ours had a clunk and that's what I thought but imagine my pleasure when I checked and found the gear was cross drilled etc. Dealers painted some blue stuff on the rear cover/plate to indicate replacement - or so I/m told.

The clunk we had was related to worn bushes in the control arms and some of the clunk is normal for constant 4 wheel drives. Also check drive train eg, universals for wear.

I would imagine the Ashcroft gear will be the cheapest cause the LR dealers in Aus rip you off something bad, like Yota and Mitsu do too!. I won't deal with them. Dave is good to deal with, sells good gear and offers prompt service. Mail should not cost that much. Just takes a bit more time.

Not too sure about the cam but have been advised to replace it with Crow or somthing suitable but a little more agressive than standard.
