My Brother is building an 82 lux with 383 stroker chev and gq 5 speed and is currently trying to suss out how to cool the thing without the expense of a desert cooler . .
4 core rad in front
2" pipes to tray mount bedford truck radiator with 2 15" thermos fully stainless shrouded
anyone have any idea what problems he may encounter and how to rectify them . i suggested sealing the 4 core and putting air bleed valves on it and on the truck rad.
there is a basic image of what he wants to do on my photobucket album

I mounted an extra radiator on the tray of my patrol

All I had to do was to plumb it into the heater hose outlets and just have adapters in the piping. I only had to run 3/4 inch hose from the front to the tray. It worked extremely well to the point that I noticed a difference if I was in soft boggy sand or mud. The beauty of doing it this way is that it only came on line when the normal thermostat opened. I bought a Davies Craige eletric water pump but I did't have to use it at all. I had absolutely no water heat problems in Outback challenge this year. The only teething problem that I found was that I had to remove the overflow bottle off the front radiator because it sits lower than the rear. I just blocked the overflow hose and ran an overflow bottle on the rear.

Thanks toughnut , i hadn't even thought of adapting from the heater hoses . i supose as it's just a secondary cooler it doesnt really need 2" hose or pipe flow.

Or just turf the factory radiator in the front and run a rear mount radiator.

If his truck has a body lift (assuming he has with a GQ trans) there's enough room between the chassis and the body to pipe through to the tray.

This with twin thermos should solve his problems.

I'm running mine with a 253, Guts is running the same with a 1UZFE with no problems.

Only trouble with this is that the radiator that he has now won't keep it cool properly. If you put it on the tray alone, it'll be worse.
