Outer Limits 4x4 Board

The apprentice at work just bought a set of 37 x12.5x16 creepy crawlers,these tyres dont look real big so we measured them up this afternoon,i have a set of 35 x12.5x16 which measure spot on 35 inches,the 37s are measuring at 35 and a half inches,why is this so,ive never seen someone so pi**ed off,not only that he payed 2400 dollars for them,does any one know the answer to this ,ive been on maxxis website and they say the overall dimension is 37 inches.Hes going to take them back but i dont know what the shop will say.

If they havent been put on, and he still has the receipt I think they'd have to give him his money back.

If it is adverised on their website (not on the carcass of the tyre) as 37" then it's incorrect. It's clearly false advertising to sell something as a different size to what it is.

While tyre production does not always guarantee exact sizes over a production run an inch and a half difference is clearly wrong.



Betcha $10 they say it'll measure 37" when fitted on 10" rims though...

The accepted standard within the industry is that measurements need only be within 3% of nominal. So a nominally 37" tyre only needs to be 35.9" diameter. And the dimensions will include fitted to a specific size (width) of rim, and there's probably a standard inflation pressure too.

Edit: had a quick look at their website ( http://www.maxxis.com/products/automoti ... .asp?id=64 ) and they're full of it! Every single size of Creepy, their specified OD is PRECISELY the nominal OD. Complete and utter bullsh!t.

False advertising - no doubt.

I'm guessing you measured these tyres when they were fitted to a rim and inflated?

Yes both on rims and side by side ,we even used a level and got real technical
