I've done a 2" body lift on my swb gq and haven't had any problems with the body cracking. I brought the blocks and bolts from Mark's adapters as a kit. The kit also comes with large washers which you tack weld to the body so the blocks cannot rub through the body.
As far as engineering goes i'm not sure as mine hasn't been engineered but I know these kits have passed engineers inspections,I I suppose it also depends on the current legislation on vehicle mods in your part of Oz. I'd imagine any body lift would have to use solid non compressible material and bolts of an appropriate grade (don't ask me what grade).
Some of the things to watch for are the clutch and brake line mounts , lower radiator shroud and low range lever. These were covered in the instructions in my kit. One thing that wasn't was the lower radiator hose which kinked a bit on my car. I had to take a little bit of length of this hose to get some of the kink out and allowed good flow.
Cheers

the body mainly cracks when using 3" or larger body blocks as the body flexes when giving the vechicle a hard work out. Personally never heard of a 2" body lift cracking out. (maybe comp guys have)

I've got 2" body lift and it totally destroyed both rear body mounts ie pulled them out of the floor. (excuse to cut the back off) The front mounts have some craking where the inner guard joins right by the mount and the firewall has torn. Not to mention all the body mount rubbers being totally ruined as well. It is a competition truck and that is 2 years comp work to do the damage. I still think it is a good thing to do but be aware of what can happen if used hard!

A guy in our club had his rear mounts punch through. No comp work.
