No dash lights...

G'day all,

got my motor back together in my 88 model rangie and it starts and runs fine (EFI). BUT none of the important dash lights work... oil pressure, change, brake warning, hand brake warning, even the ligths that light up the dash don't work. But the rest of the guages and lights do work.

From what I found in a manual all these lights are linked somehow...but my wiring diagram doesn't show where they get there power source or if there is a switch or relay....

I have the back off the instrument panel but haven't pulled it all out yet. Everything apprears plugged in so I'm at a loss....

power for all those is from a white wire, it is looped in one of the dash plugs back through the loom to the other. There is a major junction in the loom, they all feed direct from the ignition switch.

88 Rangie probably has the mystical device known as a multi-function unit, which seems to run much of the dash.... Hunt that one down (no clues on what it looks like, it may even be integrated into the dash?) and you might well be onto something.

Haynes manual shows one of those in the 89 dash.
That wiring I traced from a loom I have on the bench.
