Converting a 6G72 12V to 6G72 24V. Any big differences??

As the subjects suggests, does anyone know of any big differences between the 12 valve and the 24 valve engines? I have an NH Pajero which I just turboed. It blew a head gasket rather quickly (high km engine). The heads are old and cracked so I would rather out a newer engine in than find some more old heads.

I've seen around 2000 model 6G72's for around $1100, does anyone know of cheaper ones around Brisbane or is this price sweet?

Also anyone know of differences between say the Pajero and the Challenger engines or are all the rear wheel drives (and 4WD) the same?

afaik, the 24V engines run individual coil packs unlike the 12V with one coil. Not an issue if you're using an aftermarket ECU (which I gather you are).

Apart from that a mechanic very familiar with pajeros, challengers etc has told me it'll bolt right in.

It'd be great to have a guinea pig......DO IT!!!!

Yeah running an EMS ecu. And that seems to be the general concensus, that its a drop in job. Just means i'll have to remake my manifolds again haha. Fun Fun! I just bought a rather large turbo of ebay so this is turning into more of a beast as the days go on

Not quite sure if it will bolt straight in as the 24 valve has the bigger transmission in them same a NL etc , So could be an issue with the clearance in an NH transmission tunnel.

Now I'm only going on what I've been told, and that is the gearboxes for NH-NL all have the same belhousing shape/size. It's just the 'box case that's bigger in the later ones.

Well it would be worth having a go at putting one in, better power and fuel economy than the 12v. In a shorty it should go well! Good luck with it.
