weird how there was water flowing from water pump though...
call from radiator place - 100% blocked (how they work that out I dont know)..
nice for a 3 yr old car...

bad coolant can cause corrosion and blockage

Check the stray current in the coolant when you get it back, may be causeing electrolisis in the system, and the corrosion is blocking up the radiator, and potentially the rest of the system.
Layto....

They would put a pressure of known flowrate on one end, and measure the pressure drop or change in flowrate across the radiator I think.
Yours had 100% pressure drop/blockage

Or nothing coming out the other end

Your commodore radiator core was cold in the middle but hot at the sides? Doubtful. I'm guessing one side was hot and the other side was cold, thats a stuck thermostat. If your top and bottom radiator hoses are the same temp (at normal operating temp and above), its safe to say the thermo is ok. If the radiator core is hot in some spots while cold in others and the hoses are the same temp then there is a blockage. Generally speaking.
