Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Had trouble starting the 2h this morning, well, wouldnt start at all. I worked my way through the fuel system, and even though there was a little but of air at the top of the injector, they soon bleed fuel. Checked the voltage onto the glow plugs and it had 12vots (around that). Anyway, pulled out one of the glow plugs, and its covered in fresh black oil.....so, what does this indercate? should it be like that? any ideas?

Pulled out the rest of the glow plugs, and tested them (good battery, 12-ve on the body, 12+ve on the top) and none are heating up. It has been getting harder to start of late, and i think thats the reason why. oil, well, has to be worn rings/bore.........

have you tried another set of glow plugs? i'd try rule the smaller possibilities out first..

In my commodore it seemed like i was losing spark at high rpm.. checked plugs, leads, coilpacks, injectors.. everything.. pondered for a bit and thought of the fuel filter, changed that and bam..

it can quite often be something simple..

i have to buy a new set. I have been interchanging 2 sets of old glow plugs for the last year, and i think the last set have finally packed it in. i'll buy a new set, and work from there....when i have the money lol

sounds like areostart will be your friend jimmy. as for the oil.. sounds like it might be getting tired. 2H love long hard runs not that short stop start crap. apparently a re build kit can be had for 3 or 400.

I just had the same problem see post "2h starting problems " in general tech .
I reaplace dthe glow plugs and away she went.
mine were not heating up and had oil on them when i removed them . this is okay .(the oil that is )
please shop around for plugs though . toyota dealer quoted me $ 47.95 each but i got em for $ 18.00 each at the local parts shop .

Turned out the injectors were all but rooted - instead of a spray they dribbled = no start

Yeah, but i didn’t have any in the shed, and I had to boot to work, so i had to take the Paj.....I already put a kit through it, but the bores are the problem. they need sleeving, or boring out, and atm, i dont have the cash for that.

Your thread became my bible for that day! Trust me lol. I can get the same bosh glowpulgs from bursons for $19 bux each, and De-lux, I have 6, not 4! + what brand did you buy?

haha, i have done all the same scotto, but in diffrent order. All the injectors are new (to 2000 kms), as is the pump, etc etc etc. The only thing that i havent replaced on the motor are the glow plugs, and thats because ive been lazy and kept interchanging old one with old ones when they slowly died off. It should be all good once i buy some new glow plugs

I got it from Queensland Diesel Spares at Rocklea, QLD. I have no idea what brand they were, i did a trade over, my old ones for brand spankers for $20 all up. I also traded in my injectors for reconditoned ones for $250. After this it started and drove like a dream. (well as dreamy as a busted gut-lux could )

its the glowies...put 6 newies in and if you can, take one of the originals in for indentification...there are about 3 types and voltages in the 60.

haha, yeah. 8.5, 11, and 14v isnt there? The ones i took out of it were 8.5 (which were out of a Bmotor) They were the same as the ones in my 2H, so it should be all good

mine were 6 volt in my 2h "bosch" , why the different plugs for the same model motor ? .
I agree pull one out and take it in get them to match it up .
