hilux shocks in feroza

giday all
i got a feroza (jap import rocky) which i busted a rear shock on. snapped it clean off just above the lower mount. how i did it i dont know but i think it may have had a run in with a rock and finally lost. (it had won to many anyway). so i decided to put some new shocks in it. i found that the standard feroza shocks limit the flex quite badly only about an inch or two down travel on mine so i put some shocks from a ln130 hilux in it. they have increased the travel read flex hugely. they have also firmed up the ride a we bit which has taken alot of the bounce out of it. they are slightly to wide but that can be fixed by putting a few small washers over the lower mount shaft that fit inside the bush appart from that there is nothing wrong with them. goo cheap mod thats easy to do.
now how can i get more flex out of the front end with out loosing clearance under the gaurds as my 31's already hit the under side top edge of the gaurd when i hit a bump to hard any hel with this prob would be sweet. note i have the torsion bars wound right up

Nice infor there... Its true the Hilux bits would be a lot cheaper and easier to source here also.
The fimer valving would also help with ride as you said... because they are made to suit a heavier car.
With the front wound right up, you lose most of the downtravel, but gain the same amount you lost in up travel. (This is where your wheel hits your guard). On a side note.. chop the guard
You can only slightly increase travel/flex on the front a few ways:
Make sure your shocks are not limiting the movement like the back was.
You can do a 'ball joint flip' to gain more travel between the upper bumpstop and the chassis. This is where the upper balljoint is undone and bolted backinto place underneath the control arm, instead of on top of it. Sometimes, spacers under the control arm are also used for larger lifts. (Requires wheel alignment)
Also, you can space the front diff down. This reduces CV angles after your torsion bar windup and can also help with travel if your CV joint is the next limiting factor. Use in conjuction with BJ flip.
Take your swaybar off if you havn't already too!

i have the upwards travel but its real stiff it wont stay compressed if and when i put it up on a rock to show off the flex. so the whole truck leans over slighty more than it should. basically the back does all da flexing and the front does none.
i might look at doing some of those mods choppin the guards would be easy coz i only need to cut about 20mm out of the inside of them then i'd have no trouble.

What flex
We IFS have none
This is due to the torsion bars being 'wound up'. By turning the torsion bars, it puts a higher preload on the spring, which increases the spring rate that they exert on the suspension (and hence a height lift). This is why they feel very stiff. There is no way to prevent this from happening.

Different brands will have different part numbers. What type were you thinking of?

thinking of raiding a wreckers and getting some stuff for the roza. hq/hz leaves would be a start. but while im there, if i could find any ln130 hilux/surfs with shocks on them.. would be nice to know im buying the right part.

Just remember wide track and narrow track use different rear shocks and they aren't interchangeable.
Commondoor wagon rear shocks will fit the rear of narrow tracks and are longer. VK - VP? I think; search all the info is on here.

na i dont have the part number sorry. you'll have to get a new set of bushes that have the right diameter hole in them for the feroza lower mount. just try and get the shocks with the narrowest lower mount.
