1HD-T injector pump swap

Post by BeerCruiser »

Was wondering if anyone has fitted a 1HD-T injector pump onto a 1HZ turbo engine?
I have fitted & been running a 1HD-T turbo setup onto my HZJ75 but I stayed with the original injector pump, but now pump is getting pass its use by date.
I would like to use the 1HD-T injector pump as it has a boost compensator and may give better performance. At the time I fitted turbo I was told by diesel/turbo mob that the 1HD-T pump is not compatible.
The 1HD-T is direct injection with completely different injectors, does this matter.
From previous posts it appears to have a larger piston of 12mm but can it be timed and adjusted for corect fuel metering on a 1HZ turbo donk.

you cant do it because the timing is all out, they use different injecters, pressures, and one is direct injection one non...if i were you....id be looking for a hdt set of pistons and head...then it will go on and work well...pm me as i have a few leads if you r interested....no affiliation...yada yada

It may work, but overall timing advance may be too much. Give me the 096000-**** number off both pumps and I will see how much difference in advance there is between the two.

Next step then would be retuning it on a dyno.

Hope this helps.

G'day Andy

1HZ pump 96000-8360 2
1HD-T pump 96000-7820 7
Asking for p/n's- sounds like you know a bit about injector pumps, thanks for any info you can get.

Ok, advance rates are different between the 2, the 1hdt pump also provides more total advance than the 1hz. I dont know why, I think it has to do with higher opening pressures for the 1hdt 2 spring injectors.

It could be adjusted I think, but probably better just to fit a boost compensater to the 1hz pump, dyno it, then you know everything is as it should be.

You can do it if you are willing to take a risk and see the outcome. In this day and age anything is possible.[/b]

Id be putting a new set of rings in with hdt pistons and a hdt head.
Probably cost you thesame to do this as would recoing the hz pump.....this is dependant of course on you running a turbo.
The turbo manifold bolts up to either head, and the hdt shits on a hz for power and torque. Resale just umped up 5k, and you still have a hz head to sell.

you will also need 1hdt conrods to fit the 1hdt pistons as the gudgeon pins are a different size to the 1hz.
