22R and water probs

I did a good search for this but know satisfaction. I have the 22r and when its up to its nuts in mud and water it starts to splutter at low revs but clears up with more revs, and takes some time to clear up. I was putting it down to carby. But a mate has the same set up and it did the same thing for first time on the w’end, and he has a snorkel. I’ve tried drowning it in the backyard but it doesn’t miss a beat. All electrical is secure and appears to be water tight. Any ideas?

try the dizzy, extend the breather, then there will be a 5 mm hold or so at the back of it in the alloy, silcon it up :D

I don’t understand the bit about extending the breather, or is the alternative to siliconing the hole up for good?

Don't know about the holes etc but mine does the same when drowned, it is your dizzy and if pulled apart when wet you can actually pour the water out!

I am going EFI in the next few weeks so i havn't bothered trying to fix and i hate mud too. I just stay out of it where possible.

Hmmm interesting, some silicone would work, but still looking for this hole?? It sounds like there is a far bit of water is getting in there, and a hole would do this!

There’s the hole, it’s in the dizzy cap. I suppose I should have asked if I need the breather before I sika flexed IT UP!

well why not plug it with a grommet temporarily , then take t off later.same thing with the guy who asked about wetting his alt. cover it with a plastic bag, tie it go mud , then take it all off at wash. simple., any petrol motor will stuff up in water.it doesnt mix with the carb or electrics unless u cover them all from splash zones. esp. coils and spark units.i moved all mine to high on sides and splash guarded them with old drink 2ltr bottles andd some tack screws.looks shit ,but hey u wont be stuck.
