A young mate of mine is thinking to pick up a G60 off a family friend of his....probably for as little as $100.....so im guessing it needs some work.

He has asked me weather or nots it’s worth the effort to bring back up to road worthy. And keep as a hack and beach runner. I have mentioned that I would need to have a good look so I will go with him to have a look this weekend.

Would it be worth it?
Are they an easily worked vehicle for two non-mechanically inclined guys to hack up?
What are common problems with this model?

I’ve been searching the Nissan thread for some info. (Mainly e-bay threads….that’s not tech.)

these things are animals, piss easy to work on theres nothing to them, there are fairly simple little trucks, tuff as nails but rust is a big factor, have a look at the rails for rust , front gaurds, cabin floor, a pilar, the body work is simple and not to hard to fab up new bits plus you can throw a heep of mq/mk parts in it
mq shorty, black, rust free!!, quarter chop, F&R tube bars and sliders, q78's or 33'' stt's, 4.88's with lsd waiting to be thrown in.. :D http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9540

for $100 could he go wrong? even if he buys another one for spares for $500 he would have something usable cheap, and learn how a car works while at it.

Very easy to work on.

The big gotcha would be rust. Other than that... well, you know what I think if you look at my sig line ;)

worst atributes of a g60 is terrible fuel econamy, 3 speed box, and lack of spares.
all of these are easily cured tho with a lil research n effort
and they have awesome lowrange. tough as nails and will go almost anywhere with a few mods
