2 of the aftermarket companys called Tridon and Stant I believe only make them in 82 degrees. Part numbers ST47-180 for the Stant and TT332-180 for Tridon. There is no listings of an others in their Catalogue Guides.

yeah the tb42 really needs a cooler therm. the temp sits to high as it is just on the verge of operating the clutch in the ffan all the time. Its a right pain in the arse.

Nissan Parts supplied me with a 76.5 degree genuine Nissan one.
Can't give you part number, I cleaned out the garage and threw the box out yesterday.

the rd28, rb30 and td42 all come with 76.5 degree thermostats, the only listing for the tb42 is a 82 degree thermostat

I used to be without a thermostat.
it was good when the temp was cold but once it got hot it stayed hotter for longer.
i have an 82 degree in mine and i have the twin thermos come on at half way.
Works great and i have an override switch for going on the beach or uphill with a trailer on.

I got mine from National Capital Motors, in Belconnen ACT.
Mine's a Diesel, but not a factory turbo, just an aftermarket, so whether that makes any difference I don't know.
I know they asked for a VIN number to ensure they were supplying the correct part.

Is the thermostat housing the same for a tb42 as any of the above???

i had a problem with a commodore one, tried a few different temps to no avil, merchanic then just drilled a few holes into it to allow a bit more flow, but keepin the rate slower than what no themo at all would be, as it dosnt have enough time to cool the water if it flows to quick.

The tb42 uses so wierd looking dual stage thermostat. So I cant imagine there being many different versions. I brought mine from repco or autopro recently and they didnt even ask what temp I wanted.

Can anyone confirm this?
Or are the after market (Tridon) 82 degree ones just as good in terms of flow as Nissans?
I called into a Nissan parts yesterday and they have none (thermostat) in Australia at all! Two weeks for it to arrive.
