Timing belt snapped yesterday

, no real problem went on down to coventry picked up new one $24.50

(gotta love Suzis!!)
While i'm at it i've replaced the water pump as it was starting to leak anyway.
Now i do have a problem, I dont know where the keyway on the cam should be
The book tells me the mark on the cam pulley should be pointing at 12 o'clock, but i have 2 marks on the pulley and 2 slots to fit the keyway.
Basically i need to know where should the keyway on the cam be facing?
I understand the crank has a mark and that should be pointing at 12.
Sorry for the rant but i tried all sorts of things and couldn't get it to fire, i'd like it to start before i put all the covers and stuff back on.
Please help

The usual method is to have the marks on cam pulley and crank pulley pointing directly at each other, with piston 1 at tdc firing. ie botth valves closed on no.1.
Some did come with 2 sets of marks, probably for use in another car or something, so just make sure dizzy rotor button is pointing to 1 and marks point to each other and no1 is top dead centre with both valves closed.
In future line it up before removal, then don't move anything, so its just straight back on

Thanks Christover
I normally would of made sure that nothing was moved before removal,
but the belt snapped while i was doing about 30kpm, so the motor turned after it snapped, it was out of my control.
So if i understand wat your saying is that the cam need to be with both of the valves on piston no.1 closed
Thanks Pep

Yep, correct.
At that point, 1 of the timing marks should point straight at the crank pulley.
Then make sure crank pulley mark points straight at the cam pulley mark.
This works for me, anyway.

Your a Champion Christover
Thats exactly wat i need to see.
But i've been told that the pin/keyway in the center of the pulley should be at 6 o'clock
therfore placing the mark at the outer of the pulley at 12 o'clock and that would put the rotor at No.4
Thanks Pep

People use words differently, so it is easy to get muddled up.
Maybe they saying same thing a different way?
Maybe some cars only use keyways as timing marks, and some have marks, who knows.
I think there is a dot on crank pulley in same place as keyway.
But this worked on mine.
I needed to swap cams to put swift donk into the sierra.
Once you set it up, turn it over a few times slowly, and make sure marks still line up..this makes sure you are not one tooth out, which is easily done.
