I'm after local opinions on the Wrangler MT/R, both on and off road, mileage, wear etc. The Yanks seem to luv 'em. They'd be going on an 80 series, running BFG muddies at the moment

Buy them.... and don't hesitate!! I run them on my 60 series, and absolutely love them. They are very good on wet road, very respectable in the mud (better than a BFG), they kick ass on the rock, and they are very good on dry road. Myne have worn very well, especially considering I run a welded diff in the rear. There are people in my club that have them on normal open diffed cars, and they are wearing heaps better than myne, which means they are wearing exceptionally on road.
Are you locked up?? Front/rear?? When I first got myne, I was open diffed, and because they are fairly soft, they did tend to chop up a bit on hard, pebbley rock. But thats only because they are quite soft.... and also because I thought it FUN to light them up, and watch the smoke rise from them
So yeah.... get some!! Even with my welded rear diff on the road (I just put them front to back every 5K) I expect a good mileage out of them. I won;t put a figure, because my idea of good mileage, with my driving style, is not pretty. But on any other person's car, I would expect big miles.
See ya. Dan

how do they go in mud?
how do they wear on road?
I heard the lugs get cut up very easily, anyone clarify that?
When do the BFG Krawlers make it to Aus

Cjer runs them on his jeep, in regards to mud i have no idea (who cares about mud, its boring anyway).
In regards to on-road wear cjers still look like brand new and its his daily driver, and in regards to them getting chopped up pretty easily, no way.
Cjer was stuck at the end of cruiser canyon on some jaggared rock, he sat there spinning them until smoke was coming off, hardly a mark...

I have sold lots of these tyes in all sizes and the only complaint I've had was from a wanker complaining about road noise after I told him at the time o sale that they were like any other aggresive radial "noisy".
he dosen't deserve to own a 4by.
37s cost $430 rec retail from Goodyear.

33'S $250
35'S $280
37'S $420
Thats what i sell them for, I wouldn't use any other tyre.
I was the highest placed car at Tuff Truck that wasn't running swampers so that should say it all.

My minds made up my next rig will have em thats 1 thing im sure of

and there gunna be atleast 35's if not 37's.
But Sam do ya think there might be a price drop i know people have said this b4 but how is it that a 2" rise from 33's to 35's is $30 but the same 2" rise from 35's to 37's is $140 is this price gunna drop to a more reasonable price
Cheers Dan

I was talking to Goodyear this week, they (QLD state management) do want the 40" to be allowed in the only neg is Godyear national management. but I can probably say yes in the end they will come in small numbers. as for price really no idea yet. I'll do the same as i did with the 37" (order 20 they listen to me then) if a couple of other dealers do the same we will get them.

not likely, low volume tyre, the construction of a 37' tyre mould cost big bucks, they will only go down if they sell a million of the things.

the only problem with these tyres is that a 33x12.5x15" and a 35x12.5x15" tyre is illegal 4 road use !!!!! if u look at the specs all the 12.5" wide tyres need 2 b run on a rim no skinnier than 8.5" and in NSW the RTA wont let u run any bigger than and 8" rim therefore u cant leggally run them on the road.....
the only reason i say this is coz i have been pulled up by cops numerous times for runnin a mates 35" MTR's and they even nailed me 4 my 33" BFG's so in my opinion for $420 or $430 4 a 37" MTR y not but sumthin like a swampa or claw that is a full offroad tyre ???????

yes i know but realistically with most of the rigs from this board they stand out in the crowd!!!!!!!!! therefore the cops c u easier and i get hasseled bout tyres all the time so i cant c the point of having 2 trailer a set of ntr's 2 the trail... 4 the amount of effort 2 do that y not do it with a tyre that is worthwhile changin over ???
dont get me rong the MTR's work farkin awsome. they work really welll on dan's 60 and they looked like they did the trick for sam at TTC, also cam has em on his zook and they perform really well but like i said if i get them i wood have 2 trailer them 2 the trail so i didnt get busted allt the time and yeah u c my point ??

Read my post. Its like the second reply to the thread.
Dan
Ben.... yeah I am hearing you. And like you told me the other night, maybe the trick is to just forget the MTR's (sob sob

) and just go a set of claw's on 8's (legally). Does anyone have a logical/legal response to this??
