Apparently not, But it looks to me as if the springs will get in the way, A few of the european guys off here dont run high steer.

For the $$ of all that , you could almost do a SOA except for the steering and the rear tailshaft.

BUt maybe wise to learn the hard way, might make him a better driver later

Don't see how thats quite right, Springs - $200 second hand, BL - $115 new, shackles - $100 to make from scratch. SOA - Machining Steering is expensive to accept reverse tapered 75 series ball joint, extended brake lines are common or try joining 2 stock ones together for budget lifting, shafts need extending - about $150 for the pair if you know anyone, cut and shut perches is not too hard, engineers - $800 to $1200 depending on engineer, steering arms, hi steer etc - way more expensive than $415 I recon. wouldn't go extended shackles either - additional stress on springs and mounting points is dangerous. 2 inch spring and 2 inch body are way to go. You can run 37's on that combo with front and rear trimmed guards.

Snake Racings new Hi steering is much stronger than the old ORI which requires bigger screw in studs on the knuckle, the S.R one is a whole new cast hub. Mind you thats like saying king Kong is stonger than Goliath - both are well strong - Screwy never had any issues with his for strength in comps etc. Every one of my SOA patrols has had ORI hi-steer and all were fine - just make sure you get the allingment of steering spot on - all rods are to run parrallel to each other for correct geometry, then hope your ackerman angles are fine.

You can't really bodge up steering for SOA - if you bend stuff its illegal - if you crash you are deamed not at fault or at fault they void your insurance and make you pay for everything because of a non engineered SOA - Engineer won't pass it unless its proper h steer with no welds involved - you could machine the Hi steer up yourself but. Victoria however is different story.

Cheers,

Mark

at the end of the day you should tell your 17 year old mate this....

what price does he want to put on his life??

if you cheap out on steering your asking for trouble.
Steering and brakes are the only 2 componants on a car that you shold never go the cheap path. cause if either fail because you were cheap and bodgy then your life is at risk.

Do it once. Do it properly.

Is it a long or short wheel base?

it's a shorty

rotating diffs?

I don't know if you have to with an MQ but he might have to rotate his diffs too. Check with Screwy, he will know if you can get away with not rotating them. But if you do have to, its a fair size job on the front end. It might be an easier option to go the 2+2" lift and cut the guards.

Just playing Devil's advocate.

Both front and rear diffs will have to be rotated to make the pinion angle right and to get the castor correct on the front again

If you get an engineers report you can get them legal in NSW and VIC if you do it correctly.
