I am putting a new pump in a Ford Festiva. The new pump doesn't have a connector. Is it OK to cut the old wires and reuse the connector? I will solder and cover all joins with heatshrink tubing.

yea thats fine mate all after market fuel pumps come with wires you have to cut and join to factory wiring

Maybe double heat shrink the wires as I have had soldered wires "push" through single heat shrink before in a few situations.
Otherwise, should be all good.

I put heatshrink over some fuel pump wires in a old car of mine.
I pulled the pump out 12 months later and the heat shrink had dissolved!!!
Just thought id let you know........

Well it is all back together. RoldIT and SLOGQ I read your replies after I had finished. I flattened out any points on the soldered joins before doing the heat shrink and it also has the original spiral protective sheath over it.
I'll check it all in a month or so, it is pretty easy to get to, to make sure the heat shrink is OK.
Cheers
