I'm looking @ getting a 92 Sierra for the lil woman (something else for me to play with  ) but before we get it she wants to know whether or not I can get an A/C unit for it?

Where would I find one & what's it worth?

mine came out of the factory with air con... its a 91 hardtop. super cold and cools down the little cab pretty fast. wouldnt use it offroad though. just letting you know they do exist :)

edit: i guess you could also find a wrecked one with factory aircon.

You could also try import wreckers, a lot of sierra half cuts come with A/C, and P/S too.

My viewpoint is almost the same. Ive got an 98 coily hardtop - factory aircon.

Was nice and cold, but doesn't aswell on hot days of late. I only use it with my stock tyres though.

Anyone else know what is needed to fit A/C to a sierra hardtop?
Iv done the search but didn't come up with much.
I know a multi V pulley is needed but what else?
Will a jimmy A/C fit a sierra?
Has anyone done this before and what would be a rough price?

Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

underbonnet is easy - it;s all pretty generic stuff - it's the evaporator under the dash that's the problem.

AC in my hardtop works great. It isn't ultra effective at lowering cabin air temp (would take a looooong trip to bring air temp down to say 24 degrees on a 40 degree day ... normally only gets cabin down to say 28-30 degrees) so back seat passengers will only feel mildly cooled, but the air blowing onto the driver + passenger is chilly as.

Only time it's not great is in city stop-start traffic. Occasionally have to ride the accelerator a bit at lights on really hot days to keep revs up at around 1800rpm, otherwise it starts blowing warm air again.

moph it sounds like your condenser fan isn't working. will be an electric fan on the front side of the radiator/condenser. with the car running and aircon on check if its working, if its not give the centre on it a bit of a tap with a hammer usually frees it up again.

(i have to do this every couple of months in the work van, boss is too tight to get it fixed properly! )

I have the underdash evaporator and radiator off my 94 sierra for sale its all pretty easy to install and set up and was nice and cool. Not as cool as having a super fast aircon compressor tyre pump tho :D

How much you want for it?

Was it working in your car?
Why did you take it out?
