i searched and found nothing.
i have a load whine mainly in low range, everyone says it very common but they cant tell me what it is? some people say its the power steering pump, but why would it be louder in low range. any idea's?
also am almost ready to do a clutch, any suggestions on what to use(brands, standard or heavy duty) and prices?

is the whine mainly in low range or only in low range? the low range gears in the transfer case are pretty noisly in most 80's. otherwise it could be a diff, the gearbox, or something in the engine - you need to be more specific about the noise - what it sounds like, when it happens etc.
clutch - Daikin make the best. If it is a comp truck, get a safari tuff, if not just get a standard or heavy duty job - even their standard clutches have a bit extra over factory clamping effort, and they work smoothly and last a long time. If you are changing the clutch yourself, it is easiest and quickest to take the transfer off the back of the gearbox first, then drop the gearbox. the gearbox is HEAVY, get help!
cheers

i use a exeedy hd clutch in mine, very smooth and never had a problem with it.
they were around the $500 from memory.
i do agree on the above about the gearbox.
i had 3 people on mine up on the hoist, one of the guys arms let go due to the weight and it landed on my head knocking me clean out for a hour...
they are a heavy box for sure.
