Does anyone know if you can reshell a vehicle still under vic regs? Ive swapped an older zook body onto a newer zook chassis and want to know if its as easy as supplying vicroads with new body number.
The chassis has its chassis id stamped into it which i assume is the main number that correlates with your registration of the vehicle, and it still has the same engine in it, im just wondering about the body and its id.

zooks dont have a body number, just a couple of tags. I know in NSW you cant leaglly reshell a vehicle (from what the RTA told me).

it is illegal to re-shell a car in VIC and NSW , these laws have been in for a year or so. if the body has no numbers just swap it and say nothing!

let pop rivets be your friend and if the other car was a different color just tell them you painted it........
don't call them and use words like reshell as they will probably want you to do a VIV check and or saftey check........either way dollars you don't need to spend....

This would be the way i would to do it, the less fuss way. the more you tell them the more forms to fill in and the more money its gonna sting you.
