I plan to make a set of heavy duty trailing arms for a GU and will machine the tube in which the bushes press into to get the right interference fit.
My problem is getting the ID size without taking the current arms of and removing a bush.
Would anyone have the original ID size.
Cheers

I've cut up 50mm ID steam pipe to make my own trailing arms. They were a bit under 50mm and not quite round so I had to clean them up a bit (first lot with a lathe but the second lot was just with a flap wheel in a drill). They were still a bit tight but the bushes still pressed in. Interference fit doesn't need to be perfect, it just makes it easier to fit them if its spot on.
Maybe you could find someone with their old ones still sitting in their garage (mine have been thrown away). There must be millions out there as everyone replaces the origionals.
You can but the right sized ones from snake racing but they work out a bit more expensive. I think they are about $15 each
Don't forget the lower rear arms are offset a couple of degrees when you make them.

I made my own up using 63x45 hollow bar. They're 46mm wide. I made the bores to be between 49.92 to 49.95mm. As the the bushes are 50mm or a bit over. You want them tight so they don't move side ways in the bore when their on you're 4by, Happy Machineing!!
