Hey guys

so i just finished my 2in BL on my 91 sierra.

went to drive it to get the steering colum aligned. and it woudnt start.

its kicking over and dosent seem to be the battery.

it didnt have much fuel in it when i started workin on it. but i did have the petrol filler hose off for a few days. could of it all avoporated out ?

i put some new fuel in it and no kick at all ??

could of i snaped the accelarator cable and its closing the carby ?

do i need to prime the engine or something if i have fully ran out of fuel ?

any ideas would be good. Cheers

Where to start, do the usual tests Fuel Spark Compression
1st See if you've got fuel at the carby by looking down the carby while
turning the throttle and see if you've got fuel going down the throat.
with the work you've done that's probably the problem,
you may just need to bring the fuel back up to the carby (or pour a little bit into the carby to give it some help)
2nd Check to see if your roter button is turning while your crankin it
3rd Check to see if you've got spark at one of your plugs
as far as compression goes i'd doubt thats the problem.

I'd try using some engine start or fuel down the carby as it probably just needs some help priming it again. Also just have a check around the engine bay that no wires, hoses etc. have been pulled off when you lifted it to get the body blocks in.

One that got me one day was the small cables behind the dizzy and going to the coil, there should be two wires that i can think of. This is will stop the spark.

sorry guys not to famuliar with engines was just gooogleing up what a dizzy is or a coil think a coils is what makes the juice for the spark. but not sure lol.

not even sure where i should be squirting in the engine start or petrol into the carby.

Hmm.

The coil is mounted on to the firewall panel behind the enine. dizzy has all the leads coming out of it.

Take the aircleaner top off the carb. when cranking and pressing the acc pedal there should be fuel coming into the carb by looking down the throat.

i would of looked in the carbie like that i just really havent looked around it yet.

ok checked for snaped cables. only one i could find was one over the back number plate. and i put that back in no result

No sparky no starty

Check behind the dizzy and coil for all cables are tight and present. Should be i beleive two cables running from dizzy and coil. + and -

Should be some earths behind the battery and between the dizzy and body. I am thinking you are missing more of a +'ve than a - as you are getting cranking but not starting. block is -'ve as cranking, cable is hooked up to block for this.

U getting fuel? and when the cap is off the dizzy is it turning round.
