Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I am fitting a thermo to the zook and instead of using one of these cheap and nasty thermo switching with probe under the hose I want to use a gauge that has a switch built in.

I have seen it before but don't know who makes it. You adjust the contact to the required temp and when the needle hits that point the switch is open powering the circut.

Just fit a stock type one to a hole in the head. Works a treat. Although have it cut in at 92c, otherwise the bloody fan's on all the time.........

Local auto shop (proper one, not supersleep) will have a parts book to choose them from.

I am not aware of a gauge sender that's a switch as well.

I have seen a temp gauge that has a brass needle that you can manually set. When the moving temp needle meets the brass needle at the setting that you have selected the circut is complete and the fan is turned on.

Don't know what brand but I am pretty sure not a craig davis one.....

Might be a Murphy gauge. Otherwise it will be something more obscure.

Do you mean a thermal switch, like old cars have that turns on the red idiot light when it's all too late? I wonder what temp ranges they come in, coz that would be a heaps better idea than that probe in the top radiator hose that always leaks.....

The gauges yu are referring to are Murphy gauges (not sure where they are made)...these are mostly fitted to large trucks and irrigation type engines and usually set off a warning buzzer or shutdown relay.
There is also another brand called Stewart Warner (USA) that were standard on Versatile Tractors which had a needle that could be adjusted by a small Allen key..so that when gauge needle touched it ..the tractor was stopped pronto...not much fun in the middle of the night I can tell you....and murder on turbos runnin about 650 deg C plus.

Yep, find a tractor wrecker, or supplier. These gauges are fitted to them, as are low oil pressure ones as well. If pressure drops past pre detirmined pressure, motor stops.

Davies Craig i think you mean..unless you mean that poofy singer...

there i some digital pyros and water temp guages that can switch auilarys available. saw them on here when i was searching for info on pyros
