cold starting problems

Hey,

Recently I brought a 91 hardtop sierra good little beast just kept over heating on me, had a faulty water pump. So I got new timing belt and water pump replaced them everything was fine. Set the timing right etc. till the next morning when the motor was cold. It starts like a pig sits around 200-300rpm spluttering and running rich, black smoke out the exhaust. If you rev it up a bit it comes good after about 2min.

Anyone have any idea what would have caused this problem. Was prefect till I did timing belt and water pump (doesn’t over heat now at idle)

Thanks.

Luke

re check your timing , the carbys are good for just starting to play up especially after you have fixed up something else, have a play with the dizzy while its running c if it clears up...

Auto choke on carb is coolant opperated, might have disturbed some junk when you fluched the cooling system.
