help needed to fit a turbo timer......

anyone know what to do here... i have a Greddy turbo timer and i want to fit it to my cruiser but how do i get round the alarm/imobilizer that i have..... anyone got any info?

if i remember rightly, when i was looking at the M80 alarm, there is a wire to taop into, to allow the turbo timer to run, once shut off, the alarm arms its self, youd have to check with an alarm dude,

other than that, wouldnt have a clue,

Basically the steps are:
1. cut the ignition run wire from the ignition switch. most likely this has already been done as an isolation point for the mongoose alarm. so it needs to be cut again on the ignition switch side (positive side) of the wire before the alarm module

2. this wire then needs to go to through the turbo timer module and then back to the alarm, where it will make its way back to veicle loom
2.1. I've just read through this again and want to add:
positive 12v is supplied to the ignition switch from another wire, think it might be black/red stripe. it then goes through the ignition switch, through the turbo timer, then the alarm module, and finally back into the vehicle loom and out to the engine bay
2.2 the upshot of this is if you have used the positive 12v feed to the ignition module as one of your alarm isolation points, then it will also need to go through a contact of the turbo timer

3. the timer module will need a few other connections, namely ground and constant 12v and maybe a few others (thermostat to detect if engine is hot enough to warrant running timer etc)

4. the alarm needs to have the turbo timer programmable option enabled:
4.1. disarm alarm and open drivers door
4.2. within 15 seconds turn ignition key on and then off 13 times (ie 13 times on, 13 times off)
4.3. siren should then chirp 13 times (and lights flash 13 times)
4.4 press button one on remote to enable turbo timer, press button two to disable
4.5 leave system for 10 seconds, siren will fast chirp 3 times (and lights flash 3 times) to signal end to programming

5. should now be able to run car, turn it off and turbo timer to continue to run motor for its preset time. should be able to arm the alarm and walk away while turbo timer is running with car immobilized/locked


hope this helps for the time being and I will get those exact wiring details for you.

I had a brief look under the dash just now

coming from the ignition switch is 5 wires that go through a 6 pin connector, 2 x 3

looking at the back of the connecter (wire side) with the locating tab at the top the wires are:
top row left to right: Black/red, Black, Blue/red
bottom row left to right: Black/white, space, Black/yellow

the Black/red is a constant 12v
the Black/yellow is the wire that will be 12v to keep the mighty 3B running

what I suggest you'll need to do:
1. splice into the Black/yellow wire on the ignition side of the 6 pin connector an extra wire to the empty space on the connector
2. on the joining connector run a wire from the empty space to the turbo timer (this will be the sense wire and the switched when ignition turned off)
3. 12V and ground also to turbo timer
4. now need to cut the Black/yellow wire on the vehicle side of the 6 pin connector and run through the alarm as one of the isolation points
5. programme in the turbo timer function #13 as above
6. all worky

now, this is based on my simple turbo timer which basically has ground, 12v and the Black/yellow wires connected. when the car is switched on the ignition circuit runs as before being modified, but when the car is turned off it senses this and quickly turns a relay on that feeds 12v back through the Black/yellow wire for 2 minutes. in this way it provides a parallel path of 12v to the mighty 3B to run it, but can't start it on its own because that is another wire

ps the suby intercoller, is that an air to air or water to air? also I was thinking of putting it on the 1HZ, will it be big enough?

lance just went and found the turbo timer..... it has 4 wires coming out of it but only 3 are connected to a pludg the black one is not connected to anything....the other 3 wires (red=positive, green=earth? and white=????)

have tried searching but can't seem to find wiring details for your timer.

i reckon
red - constant 12v
black - for ground (you sure is wasn't connected to the chassis or something, would sort of explain why not part of 4 pin connector)
green - umm not sure, it might be ground
white - output


if it was me i'd pull it apart and work out what what wire does what, then power it up straight off battery and check it operates correctly. if that doesn't sort things out you know you can buy turbo timers from jaycar for $30 right?

I haven't read it all in detail, but the above "guess" sounds pretty good to me - it's where I'd start.

I'd guess that the four wires are:

Constant +12V
+12V from ignition switch - to know when the engine is on/off, otherwise how does it know when to start timing?
Ground.
Output - to supply signal to keep the engine running until the timer times out.

Bluey's colour code guess is where I'd start.

the mongoose m80 has a turbo timer feature in it so after you have wired your turbo timer in you can programe the alarm to turn on and arm and still have the motor running and then when the turbo timer turns the motor off the cut outs for the alarm will start

the green wire is for the hand brake you dont need it just connect it to earth
