GQ air con/blower questions

G'day guys have a couple of questions for the GQ experts. Have done a search but didnt really come up with that much info i need.
The fan blower in my GQ (88 model) is really weak even on the highest setting, hardly any air comes out of the vents and it smells really dusty.
I want to get the air con re-gassed asap, as i bumped one of the air con hoses ages ago when changing an engine mount it came loose and all the gas leaked out.
I have a rough idea whats involed, usually do just about everything myself (reapirs/maintance) rather than paying some stooge heaps of $$$.
Do i have to pull the whole dash apart, read something about cleaning out the condensor or pulling the grill off at the back of the bonnet.???
Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on how the previous owners ran the AC? if run with outside air vent open ( in dusty conditions ) the unit will be choked with dust.
Can be cleaned, but depend on how bad it is

Must've been a decent " Bump"

I'm pretty sure they go in thru the glove box area only
Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

gidday
its the sponge seal on the blower housing that is cactus.
You need to pull out the plastic housing that the blower motor is attached to on the passenger side, and the kick panel.
3 nuts from memory, you have to pull out the glovebox first ( 6 screws) and the kickpanel ( 2 screws)
if you turn on the fan to high, and then put your hand begind and under the glovebox you will see exactly where you need to replace the sponge seal.
once you do that, VOILA, you have a kick arse fan again.
Also, when you pull teh mtor out, make sure you clean all the leaves and shit from the heat exchanger aswell. it will be full of crud.

I've just been though this same problem. In my case the evaporator box was completely clogged full of crap. I think I paid about $150 for a new box and dryer unit.
