I want to put O2 and EGT sensors on my vehicle to test some things, my 2002 FZJ105R GXL auto (4.5 1FZ-FE) apparently does NOT have any O2 sensors, it always runs a fixed fuel map or something.
Any suggestions on how to put this sort of thing in?
I have pacemaker extractors, is this the best place to drill for the EGT / O2?
Can I put them close together?
I want something fairly simple, not too many bells and whistles.
I just want to measure current exhaust temperature and A/F ratio (realtime whilst under load)
Cheers
Nick

If you want to read the actual AFR you will need a wideband O2 sensor and controller such as the Innovate LC-1. Narrow band sensors only tell you if you are running rich or lean. There is a lot of info on sensors on the Megasquirt site (just Google megasquirt) and also on the Innovate Motorsports Forum. I am installing the LC-1 as part of a carb to efi conversion. In general the O2 sensor should be upstream of any cat and preferably after your pipes come together. There is a litltle display, Megaview, described on the Megasquirt site which enables you to read the AFR in real time.
Am not using an exhaust temperature sensor so can't help there.
