My brother's old XT130 corona has just run out of rego, but I noticed that it has the "missfire" 4 cyl holden motor in it, and was wondering could a 253 / 308 holden motor fit?
I know that it hasn't got anything to do with 4WD's, but has anyone heard of this being done? I have seen it done to a Gemini, but not the corona. I think it would make a sweet sleeper.

No, but there was a worked turbo 202 (208) bore one that used to run 11 second 1/4s. Im sure a few VIC people know the car im talking about.
You may be able to fit the v8 in it but it'd be pretty close, but probably no more difficult than fitting the 6 in was.
They couldnt be much different in width to a hilux, so I'd think it's possible.
These days most people would go commo v6, but if you're looking at a drag car with no rego, anything will fit given enough chopping...

Yeah, I have a spare inj. black motor at home, but was concerned about the length, with the fan and all.

Go the 3.8 V6 Commodore motor, basically as long as a 4 cyl and only a bit wider in the base.

Well, anythings possible with enough effort. I'd be more concerned about width than length with a V8.
I think you will find that it WILL fit because the engine bay is probably identically sized to the Hilux of the same model and we know they fit in them.
If it's for a drag car only it''ll fit for sure... you can always run no inner guards and put the pipes out that way and under the sill....
For a roadworthy job though you may find it pretty tight getting the exhausts past the chassis rails.
A good question to ask is do Hiluxes need bodylift to get the pipes to fit?

You will be able to fit it ok. Dont worry about lenght, you can put the radiator in the boot, with the right air flow into the boot. A couple of the big boys on the commodore that run twin turbo set ups in there early model commodores (there is a VH/VK and a VL) by memorie that have the radiator set up in the boot. If they can keep these things cool and, you should be able to keep a 253 or 308 cool.

They used to use the XT130 boxes in early holdens as they bolt right up, whack a 202 in it !
