Simple as that, or is it???
How? What? Why?
Any help apprieciated.

Should be a matter of making up brackets, and working out a pulley system.
I have one fitted to my VR V6, good for low down power, runs out of puff at the top of the rev range. Would be different for the 1600.

That's what i was hoping to hear,
I've done a search and there's a lot of talk about the subjet but there's a lack of good acurate information and photos of the job complete.
It would be nice to get a good idea of know how before I start.

You'll also (most likely) need to have your computer remapped. The blower will need more fuel than a stock set up.
The 4agze runs the air conditioning type pulley from memory (clutch type). They do have a tendancy of packing it in when they get dirt in the clutch. So be mindful of that.
If it was a super simple task everyone would have one. Can be done, just take your time and make sure that the bracket is 100% square. Easiest to remove the engine to build the bracket.
Make the bracket 2 piece. Like the one below. This way you can test it for a while, if its out of line you can adjust it until its right by loosening 4 bolts. When its right weld it.
This is intended as an example of the adjustability only. The way the bracket bolts to the block and blower will most likely be completely different.

witht the charger, set up , the brackets go just below the extractors. You use the bolts where the aircon would sit.
Remember if the motor is in good nic, you should be able to set max boost around 6 or 7 and still be fine on the stock computer, any more and expect fuel and timming hiccups.
Make sure your fuel system can handle it, as you dont want it running lean, preffer to have more fuel then not enought. The 4age charger has an electric clutch , and can be turned on and off (from what i have read), it is not recommended as this wears quickly and pricey to replace.
either way i sure tehre is alot of interest in this and many others would like lots and lots of photos.

driven one before with this setup, you will have to change the map sensor to a 2-bar type with similar resistance to the suzuki's 1-bar sensor because when it hits boost it cuts out

I have never had a problem with mine. I switch mine on, say at the lights then off once I hit mid 4th gear. These heat up quick, so I only ever use it for short bursts. However it will be allot different on a 1.6lt.

hmm when you say they heat up , asin in what part?
Also , thinking you could set up a foot button , eg like the old ford trucks had for lights, eg give it a tap with boot and it comes on.
Any one who has done it can you post some pics, or email some to me, as been umming and arring over this mod. how much more fuel does it chew, how quick does the computer go compensating for the extra air.
Y9ou useing the stock vit air box?
I know where to get the charger and can do brackets, and wiring, easy enought , just need help with piping.

just set it up with a micro switch on the throttle so anything over 80% throttle it comes on but also install an override and cut out switch so you have full control, the one i delt with wasn't working propley never saw it going, just cut out when it hit boost

The unit it's self, there not really designed for a Holden 6. Tho people selling them on ebay will have you believe they run up to 11psi on Holden 6's continuous, No wounder there selling em.
The temp gauge will start to rise after 3 or 4 sets of lights.

Thanks for the info so far,
have these motors that heat up been fitted with an intercooler?
I think the biggest issue i'm going to have is finding space to mount the s/c...still trying to find someone that has fitted the sc12 up.

Hi, I am the 'guy' that is going to fit it to my Vitara, hehe.
I have the G16B engine, 16v, mutli point injection, with 180,000k on it, but still going strong.
There are quite a number of considerations for supercharging / turbo charging a NA engine.
Mostly fuel really, as you don't want to be pinging the moment you start the engine.
I plan to use a rising rate fuel pressure regulator, and a bigger fuel pump to push more fuel into the engine, rather than remapping the ECU, or running a standalone ECU, but I need to research how much fuel the stock injectors can handle.
I will use an Air Fuel Ratio meter to keep an eye on the AFR while testing etc, so that I can determine if I am getting enough fuel etc, you can make an easy DIY one here,
http://www.scirocco.org/tech/misc/afgauge/af.html
I have already made one of these for a turbo Celica XX project I had a while back (turbo-ing a 5M-GEU engine)
I plan to use a Celica GT4 intercooler, or some other similiar top mount intercooler, rather than running large lengths of pipes.
I also plan to try and keep my AC in the car, hopefully, but there seems to be enough mounting holes left on the side of the engine so it should be alright.
I would recommend putting new extractors on it, (which is what I have just done), as they give you more room around that part of the engine bay to fiddle and play, which is envetiably what I am going to have to do.
I get the supercharger in a couple of days, so will begin sorting out locations and mounting brackets.
Another thing to think about are the pulleys sizes. As I would guess the crank pulley from the Vitara is a different size to the Levin (from which the SC12 came from), and therefore the supercharger will run at a different speed and different boost than it would in a stock Levin.
I am leaning towards having the SC12 run all the time, without the clutch, as trying to copy the electronics that controlled the clutch etc in the Levin will be a big task. But I will see what it runs like at idle.
I also think I will need to install a few check valves on some of the vacuum lines so I dont confuse the ECU or blow air into where it shouldn't be. (Such as the blowby vents in the top of the valve cover, but I think I will just put in an oil catch can for those)
Sorry about the rambling nature of my post, I have just been trying to get out of my head all the things that I have been considering for the past week or so.
Anyone got any suggestions or comments on my plan so far?

Btw, does anyone know what kind of Timing Advance does G16B have? If any.
Also, do they have knock sensors?

by oozuk
there a static dizzy on the efi models and timing and fuel is fully controled by the factory ecu
also they do not run a knock sensor

cool, thanks for that.
So would you know if it will automatically advance timing, even under boost conditions? Or will it stay the same?
If it will be advancing timing under boost, would I be able to just disconnect the 'controls' for the ignitor so that it is only sparking at what is set on the dizzy? Or will that not work?

Sounds awesome.
Keep the posting up with progress. I am looking to do the same to mine in a sierra.
