Had a good look at my carb today and oddly there was a spring someone had put on there to hold the butterfli thing open all the time instead of just when you accelarate hard. Anyone heard of this?. took it off and it seems to still run fine so i dont know why its there

that may be to keep the auto choke open all the time

I know nothing about engines (im learning) so why would someone want to keep the auto choke on?
I drove around a bit today and the vit ran much the same but used more gas so i might put the spring back on back on. any ideas.

probably because the auto choke wasnt working properly and staying on all the time, so he tied it open.

Holding a choke open means the choke is off.

Put he spring back on and had a run around today and its more ecomonical but doesnt idle as smooth and the throttle need to be held down a little untill it warms up (comes from having no choke i guess), so i might just run around with it on untill i get the carbie rebult or a new better (weber?) depending on what is best Money/preformance wise.

Alot of the time people don't know how they work proplery so they just jam it up so it doesn't work at all, when there working they work great.
