I'm thinking of changing from petrol to desiel.tb42 to td42
Has anyone done this and are there any hassels?? I hear the td42 bolts straight up. The desiel comes with the radaitor. Is there any thing else needed?
Can you just drain the petrol tank and refill with desiel, or is there more to it? Can you get away with the petrol loom and dash or do they need to be changed over??

If there's anything little thing please put it down as I'm flying blind.

Many thanks Rick

My mate just did it. The engine mounts on the chassis are different betwen petrol and diesel. Unless u can reposition them. He got a SWB Diesel chassis and put all the diesel running gear into it, and his petrol body onto the chassis. The wiring loom is different. He bought a whole wrecked patrol and swapped everything over. Also the driveshafts are different between 4 and 5 speed gearboxes.

search helps you find stuff............

not sure what your mate was up to matsmad, mounts are definately the same between the 4.2's - unless it was a 3.0 petrol or a 2.8 diesel?

Think he is talking about the MQ

The GQ has the same mounting points.

Umm, why don't you just sell your petrol vehicle and buy a deisel one? Surely there are no shortage of deisel Patrols?. There is always much more than one would expect when doing and engine swap: wiring, fuel lines, transmission compatibility, exhaust, radiator, instruments, etc, etc. Wether or not the engine mounts are in the same position are the least of your worries.

Yes I was talking about the MQ and the mounts are different. I helped him with the conversion.
