started out, "ohh paj a split cv boot, stuff it this time im doin all of them so i know theyre all new and fresh."

take the hub apart, on the side thats been making all kinds of funky noises lately and really annoying me. Well the repair list now looks like,

1, possibly two steering knuckle bearings and seals,
1 wheel bearing seal,
2x rebuilt manual hubs,
4x rebuilt cvs,
4 cv boots,
1 case of rediculous sunburn cos i didnt put sunscreen on my shoulders and i was working on him all day.

Its just a bitch cos i couldnt get the parts today, but hopefully itll all be sorted. I didnt get photos of anything today because it was hot, i was pissed off, and covered in crapola. But yeh the bearing in the steering knuckle had shit itslef all over the shop and the hwole hub was full of mud and shit, and all because one of the bolts in the manual hub has been missing and its been building up and up and there was no bearing to speak of. I have been driving on it, and i mean 4x4 like i would normally so im pretty lucky i guess, i havent fixed it earlier because it has been still going alright except for a crazy vibration, and hopefully this will fix it.

On the plus side iv got an awesome new way to put cv boots on. Today i tried the clips that are supplied, i have never liked them. I tried reusing the factory clip. I tried a big stainless hose clamp. And then dad says, "we just use to use oxy wire on the minis back in the day", run up the hardware store, come back with a roll of reo wire, and bobs your uncle. Wrap it round twice, twist it tight and snip it off and tap the twist against the cage, best thing ov ever used to put the boots on. Ill be doing this from now on, its shitloads better than any clip, except unless youve got the factory clips and the correct tools.

dean ;)
