hey guys

well as u can probaly tell from the heading.

after my BL im having problems gettin my car to stay in 4x4 low gear. i have fully moved the boot from the stick and checked clearance seems that the stick can easily sit in the gear but it dosent seem to fully lock in. feels like a little bump could ( and has) knock it back to nuetral.

2nd problem is after the BL my reverse lights are permantly on. in any gear even nuetral.

i did smash a light over the number plate when i was lifting it up meybey even ripped a cable . goin to check now. but any ideas would be great cheers guys.

iv pushed the stick up as far as it wants to go with the boot off to check clearance. seemed fine. still had space betewwn the body and the shifter.

tho i have herd others with this compliant . ill go try again. lol

(on mine) reverse light has power to the light, and is switched through to earth by the gearbox.

chances are the reverse wire is earthed out somewhere, been pinched, trapped or worn thru. The new body position could have found a bad connection.

I like your notch for low stick, much neater than my hammer job
The body can move around under driving conditions, quite normal.
This can knock it out of low.

Live with it, it should be ok, now.
If not, take a little more out, or push metal down a bit.

it seems to sit well now and thanks for the comment on the notch.

i just drilled it about 12 times then went to it with a rasp.

i tried to refitt the boot but thats in the wrong place and needs to move so iv centre punched some new position holes and am about to drill them now.

I used a gearstick boot on mine, cos I made my hole too big
Partly mine needed cutting because of my 1.3 conversion, body lift and t-case mods.
Look forward to seeing it in da bush

Tried looking in the Workshop Manual (Wiring Diagram if it has one)? Might be some info about it in there.
