just wondering what kind of tube benders you guys use..

The two i have investigated are the;

speedwerx bender

and the

JD 11 through OPW

just wondering if any1 has any opinions??

i will be using it for roll cage / exo cage and maybe a tube buggy in the future.

thanks
luke

If you want a dedicated air over hydraulic bender then Ive heard very good reviews of the speedwerx bender. I havent ever used one though so take that how you will.

Personally, if you are only going to use it every now and then, I would just buy a Chinese hydraulic bender and get a good Dawn die for it. Slower, and harder work but does the same job and a shitload cheaper.

speedwerx heaps harder to use than the jd. also jd can do 180 degree whereas speed is only up 105 degrees. jd about 1k dearer. i have a speed and wouldn't buy another after seeing the jd a mate just bought, in action. also dies are average the milled billet is great but it has an ear welded onto it which is skew causing the follower to chew itself unless you offset it to one side first.

Definately go the JD over the speedwerx, have you looked in to the protools HD105 benders, pm damo on here for a price.

I have been researching benders for months now and am about to order the following Pro Tools products

MB105HD
1 ½ X 6 X 240
2 X 6 X 240
HSN 501i (tube notcher)
Top Stand Plate(for HSN501i)

It is cheaper than a JD2 (my supplier was anyway) and from my research it is better quality(only just, little things like paint, CNC dies rather than hand machined etc). All of that gear is going to cost me $2240NZ +GST to my door.

If you look at Protools, talk to Mike Green. Very good prices.

Bringing up an old topic again.... sorry guys.

I picked my bender up today from Bax. It looks bloody great!!!
I am having the stands made up atm (mate's mig cant weld 12mm steel and I haven’t got my new one yet).

I will post pictures tomorrow of the bender as it comes from pro tools and then again once it is all set up on the stand.

If you are looking to purchase one, I have to recommend Mike Green 4x4! No hassles, great customer service and bloody great prices!

why did i waste my money on speed werx :x :bad-words: that stuff looks heaps better especially the dies that go beyond 100 degrees (or whatever a speedwerx is) and i love the offsettable notcher.
