FilterMag My Experience

Hi Guys,

Just cut open my filter after running a filtermag SS365 on it.
For those that don't know it is a magnet you put on your oil filter to collect metal deposits in your oil.
http://www.filtermag.com/

Was on my LN106 Deisel Hilux
Happy to say it did collect some tiny, tiny, tiny deposits so it does work; even more happier that there wasn't heaps :D (would indicate bad motor)

I tried to take some pics but they didn't really show up to well.
The filter was cut open with my dads tin snips so it didn't give me a false reading.
If you use a hacksaw or similar it will make a heap of filings that will stick to the magnetic area; giving you a false positive ;)

All in all happy to know that these abrasive particles are not floating around in my engine :armsup:

Cost = $89.95 NZD + Freight
I got mine straight from the dealer in Christchurch when i was there and it cost me $75 Aus

Yeh just get a sumpplug with a magnet on it, as metal particles are heavy so they sink to the bottom, to the sump plug.
Metal mush is normal if its not excessive, but when you find shards is when its time to strip the offending engine/trans/diff.
Every year all of the trucks in warranty have oil samples taken and sent to labs, which gives us reports of everything in the oil. Its great, gives a ppm breakdown or percentage of everything and if its worth looking at or not.
