Lookin into goin Auto in the 80UTE i want a 4 speed as i have lower diff ratios so i need the overdrive, runnin a b/block chev this is the only Auto up to it ( 4 speed ) i want it to work as an Auto so i need to run a computor for it to operate. I fitted one to an 80 years ago with an after market computer ( E-PLACE ) and for the $2500 the computor cost it was crap and ended up pullin it all out again. GM have a ECU to run the auto now so i have a bit of interest again . Has anybody run either 4L60E or 4L80E with a GM ECU as i would like some feedback from users's all i have come across so far is the sales brochour and the sales pitch from the seller.

Mate has a Bedford Bus camper..with a 502 Chev ( Caddy??) and a 4L480 tranny. The conversion was done by a bloke in Somerville. I can get some info for you if you want.

We fitted one to an earlier Suburban with a crate 502 a couple of weeks ago. Easy install, all you need is a laptop/pc to program the module the way you want it.

Megasquirt EFI computer can be modified for the 4L80E
You get full standard mode plus 'paddle' shift', trans brake, traction control, launch control, adjustable shift points and the gears hold until you change
This all runs independant to the EFI set up
Check their forum as read about this when it was in early development
EDIT: Megasquirt will set you back about $400 AU
If you can do C code the mods are endsless as it is open source
