G'day all,
Need specs on rear MQ diffs compared to GQ rears
what is the track differance, is it possible to fit MQ axles into GQ hubs? does the GQ diff centre fit into the MQ housing, is there a differance in spline counts/ diametre of axles?? any info along those lines will help.
Looking at making a custom diff
Thanks

Guru,
MQ rear versus GQ rear are different. they are not interchangeable.
GQ front diff centre however will fit in an MQ rear diff housing.... so you could have a high pinion in the rear of an MQ and the spline counts are all the same.
GQ rear centre will fit in an MQ rear diff as wel but the spine count doesnt match the MQ rear axles. GQ front axles match MQ rear axles for spline count and size.
GQ front axles are the same diametre and the CVs are exactly the same physical size between mq and GQ and all of the brake and hub componants in the front interchange. The spline count on MQ front axles/CVs is different to GQ though, so you need to use the appropriate HUB for the CV u are running, but all the rest of the componants are all the same.
MQ front diff centres are completely useless for applications with any of the GQ stuff and are weak anyway.
With regards to track difference. Im unsure of the exact difference. I have mesaured it before though once....
It is the difference that the GQ flared out guards have compared to the MQ straight guards. which is approx 2.5 inches each side wider than MQ so about 5 inches total wider.

Are the ring and pinion gears interchangeable, between MQ and GQ.
I might check myself anyway as i have an old MQ rear diff lying around at my fathers house and have a GQ rear sitting in the shed.
