Well this project is comfirmed.
The tooling has been ordered and I've been told that they should be available to the public around April/May next year.
Interestingly the IRS centre is identical to the live axle axle version except for the axle spline/diameter.
IRS = 33 spline, 36mm diameter
Live axle = 31 spline, 33.5mm diameter
This means only the side gears will be different btween the IRS/live axle versions.

That's good news, Frank.

Both the locker stuff, and that you're still in the land of the living. :D

Nooooooooooo  I want gears.......! *Jumps up and down throwing paddy*

Yes they are available alright.
2.85's for the 1.925 t/case and 3.15's for the 1.90 t/case.
The 3.15's won't work with the 5sp t/case though only the auto.
PM me for details.

Gidday Frank,

Did Mark ever sort out the problem with the 3.15 gears for manual vehicles??

No not yet.
We are doing a mod with the selector shaft on a 5sp case with 3.15's that I will be trialling in the near future.
Mark wants to re-design the 3.15's for the manual t/case to achieve a smaller diameter low range gear so it will clear the shifter rail. The only prob is the ratio will end up being about 2.8:1.

How would you guys with the bigger reduction transfer gears rate them off road? Worth the money and the trouble of putting them in?

Well it makes a HUGE improvement in the autos , thats for sure, as far as the cost goes though , I doubt one could warrant it. Its just one of those things ya gotta have, like lockers!

Yea your right - you can never justify things like that but I'd bet my bottom dollar I'd still have an operational rear diff lock if I could have turned things a bit slower.... And unevern ground, descents, and winching are all times when I tell myself I need lower gears.

P.S. I am happy to test a set.....

I love mine - great for no-brake descents, and I can crawl up rocky tracks much slower. With the original low-range, even in 1st low, I was often climbing too fast for comfort, just to avoid stalling.

Not now.

For the wheeling I do, I'm happy with my drivetrain the way it is. Need to sort out decent rear springs, maybe add an auxiliary fuel tank, then dream about a DiD conversion. I've heard it's been done...

But then again, if I get over to Victoria for some SERIOUS wheeling, I may discover a new itch...
