Gymkhana Event
Will be having a two day event at Caboolture in September 2007 and want to get people's views.
$10 per person per day and $25 per family per day
It will have a mud run, tinney race and one other event at this stage and with a show and shine.
Looking at entry for spectator and competitor fees for the day, trying to keep it cheap for everyone but we need to cover costs
Competitor fees goes to prize money and trophies
Please give me all the feed back you can and any options for another course you would like, this will be for the family 4WD and a bit of fun for the average 4WD owner, but it won't be to easy!!! Like the Sunshine Coast Club use to run

The only similar event I have done is the Off Road 4x4s Clubkhana earlier this year. Their entry fees are on their website http://www.offroad4x4club.com.au/events/clubkahana.htm
Most of the expense is camping fees - I don't know how much they pay/share with the LandCrusier club for the use of Willowglen, but the competitors fess are $20 for the 2 days. Due to the location there is not much option other than to camp.
$30 for 2 days of driving event sounds reasonable but I don't think I would pay $15 for show and shine (if I have read your poll correctly). More like gold coin donation just to be part of lining all the vehicles up together for a sticky beak.

I'll be more specific, Green Park Conondale. Was a great venue and good crowd pleaser. If you could copy that format inbetween the gullies etc. Fantastic in the wet. Was good for all cars, not just hardcore. The average guy could have a go and get a prize for average time and still put on a show. Don't worry about big V8's etc for crowd pleasing, I saw a landy series 3 have about 10 go's to get up a slippery hill and when he finally got there was the biggest cheer from the crowd. Average guys in average cars. The V8 shorty boys knew how to have fun. Yandina didn't cut it with a flat track.Pinball wrote:connondale still runs, thats the mitsi club run...

Looking at setting it up like the one BigBoys did at Maroocydore a few years ago flat track with bog holes etc, still waiting on council process but the planning is still happening. If we run it we will need at 100 competitiors to make it pay after looking at the cost to build it, anyone got earthmoving equipment they want to sponsor us with!!!!!

I hope it works out. Personally i'm not interested in flat track work, even with a few bumps in it. Not trying to knock you but just trying to be honest. You need some small hills to make it a little challenging with good viewing for spectators. This is one of the things I said originally when we helped set up the first one at oaky flat rd, which was the reason behind the gully that was used for those events. They were fun with a little water on it Whilst I encourage you I can tell you most people I know that went to yandina reckoned it was crap and in the end no one really could be bothered going but we suppoerted the sunshine coast club anyway as we always have.
The flatter the track the faster the speed and this is not a good mix. Having said that the biggest revenue maker that I organised was at the ettamoga pub, well opposite it anway. Great takings as people were pulling off the higway to have a look. A similar set up to a green park with a few facilities and maybe some suppliers to make a small expo? I still think gymkhanas have potential, just needs to be at the right venue. I know I arraged one at Samford once that had good hills in it, but issues with traffic to the property was an issue even though it was zoned recreational. Surely there must be a property with trouble free access, council approval and an few little hills that a farmer wants to make a few bob on by letting us use it. I know there were some kilcoy way...........

Troll00 i am keen to give a hand in setting up this too but i think you should have a chat to some of the blokes from the sunny coast club.
one person i would say to talk to is Mike Clayton from Claytons Towing he has contacts for all earthmoving gear and is a 4wd nut as you would know.
Were abouts in caboolture are you looking at having it may i ask.
