fuel consumption VS speed GU patrol

anyone know if the computer uses a signal from the speedo to calculate how much fuel to use? ie, speed x rpm etc....
i got a speedo correction box installed and im wondering if it gets put out, does it affect the fuel consumption.. ie if im sitting on 110kmh but the speedo thinks im doing 10kph and the rpm is still normal does it use more fuel?
or if the speedo says im doing 200kmh but im only doing 100? etc.....
