I'm rinning a 3.9l turbo diesel with a water to air 7lb boost. Sitting in top gear (4th) at 110kph my egts range from 320 to 440 degrees. Is this normal? What do the toyota and nissan guys get? I havent adjusted the fuel pump since the turbo install, will my egts increase when i screw up the fuel to suit?

What bogged said..
also keep it under 550 and you SHOULD be safe.
Remember pure aluminium melts at a tad under 700 degrees celcius!

And some aluminium alloys begin to soften below 500 degrees.

OK, i just had a read of the threads posted above, and have come to the following conclusions.

EGTs measured in the dump should be kept below 550.

Intercoolers, free flowing exhausts and running lean reduce EGTs.

However, if i increase the boost and screw the fuel up to perfectly suit (i dont have an aeneroid on the fuel pump) should i expect the EGTs to rise aswell?

on another note, is there a gauge to measure intake temps post turbo? i have a temp gauge in the exit water coming from the IC, but the lowest reading is 53 degrees. is there a remote (prefrebly mechanical) one available?

too much fuel in a diesel = heat... there is a fine line getting it RIGHT.. nearly right is not hard.
