I swapped mine over to a cav filter. Elements are heaps cheaper and can be had with a better primer pump on them than the standard toyota one.

Nah they are a piece of piss to do.
Just unplug the sensor wires at the bottom and spin the filter off. Swap the sensor to the new filter and spin on.
After you chuck the new one one just pump like buggery on the primer pump till it get hard and start her up. If it stops running you havnt pumped enough .

You should actually put fuel in your filter first and let it sit for about an hour. This makes the fibres swell and the filter then works properly.
When you just put a new filter on it doesn't really work for a day.

Thats what the diesel place told me anyway.

You may also find that you wont be able to prime it up {lux`s have a habit of the hand primer stuffing up} .If this happens and you have access to air comprosser,becareful but undo the line between the filter and pump,pressurise the tank till fuel comes out {becareful as it will come out at a great rate of knots,may wanna put some rag around}.

Or buy your self a complete new aftermarket CAV filter set up with the primer .Mine cost me $100

Right, so pump till it gets hard and use a rag to clean it up. I'm used to that so should be no worries.

As said above,on every filter change now i get the missus to hold a rag and air blower into tank whilst i pump,it only takes 10 pumps instead of 300.I wank alot and even my hand gets saw after 300 odd pumps.
