Hey all, just bought a new project today,an 83 lwb sierra fitted with the 660 turbo motor out of the jap import jimny"s.The motor seems fresh and runs well with 12 psi showing on the boost gauge. Now while it goes ok,just wondering if its wise to wind the boost up a little maybe to 15 or 16 pound.Everything is stock that im aware of,and was just going to use a bleed valve to achieve this.Anyone had any experience wih these motors,i dont want to kill it just yet,if i can help. Thanks

I'm no expert on turbo motors ... but if its stock i would leave it alone since its a small motor most likly its got more chance of going boom

spot on..

even if you do these run tiny turbos, the efficancy will run out when you boost it this high without mods.

you can swap the turbos to a daihatsu charade ihi unit (cant remember exactly what model ) but they are ball bearing with steel wheels that will easily hold 20psi.

ps the engine is very fresh and will last you for ages providing you think about what you are doing first reguarding the mods.

mark.

Thanks for the feed back fellers.Sounds like I should just leave it alone, ill prolly just give a decent pod filter and a 2inch exhaust, and put some 4.55s in the diffs.Just want it to be reliable so i can get the most out of it.
