Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Who here has removed the rear sway bar on their paj and uses it as a daily driver? I have a NJ with 3" lift on rear and am thinking of removing the rear sway bar. The problem is it's my misses daily driver and i still want it to be safe on road with her and my daughter and unborn son in it.

How does it handle on road? Is it pretty dodgy on corners or is it ok? I will leave the front s/bar on as i don't feel it's necessary to remove it for offroad as there is limited travel anyway... even with the bump stops chopped.

Any info on this would be great

It should be ok to remove it you wont see much change in it

Used my NJ without one of the rear swaybar links (broke) and was to lazy to replace for about 12 months. Didn't notice any difference. Fitted new links prior to a trip into Wonnangatta earlier this year when we had the roof rack on and well loaded up. Again didn't notice any difference.
This is on a common 2" spring lift and skinny 32"s (235/85R16) and the slightly higher later model Gen 2.

i dont no if it will make much diference in your model mins a ng 89 but made heaps in mine. if your woryed about it onroad make some disconects up or im sure you can buy them

I removed mine about 18 months ago, hardly noticed any
difference on road, and I like cornering at speed
It made a huge improvement off road
I've removed the front once and it was like a "boat" on road,
but a much more comfortable ride off road,so I'm turning up
a articlulator at work

Just do it

I have a swb gen1 with the rear bar removed, no probs with the handeling.
I have a 2" lift and narrow 33" tyres.
I have yet to try it without the front, but have to do something more as the front flex is nonexistant (very noticable in a SWB)

I'd forgotten about a previous experience.
When we had an NB (the original LWB high roof) it had a rear sway bar.
Once after rebuilding the gearbox or head (both fairly regular occurances over the 500000km life of the vehicle, and still going) on my Dad's NC I took it for a run and couldn't believe how roly poly it was. I told Dad the shocks must be buggerer. It was a few months later I reliased it didn't have a sway bar.
Maybe Gen 2s run a lot stiffer shocks due to the coil springs and the sway bar doesn't do as much.

got a shorty nj and have run it without the rear swaybar for ever pretty much. Didnt notice a massive difference onroad but did offroad. I just came back from a trip and from the pics you could probably see that paj well quite loaded up and im still very comfortable driving it like this. Perhaps the pedders hd springs help i dunno??? maybe a little bit, but yeh never been concerned enough to put it back on.

swaybars ... throw em away .... just added weight to the vehicle.

ive yet to remove the front - but with the back removed ive noticed more boat roll - but its entertaining (and makes me drive slower).
