Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey all, on my mq i have a gq winch bar, hasnt been a prob untill now, just got meself a 12,000 pound electric winch for it, when the previous owner fitted the bar i think he had the cbfs, I was thinkin bout bolting a peice of 8 or 10mm plate to the chassis rails and then welding that in place to the bar. You guys reckon it'll be strong enough or am i better off choppin this bar appart n start from scratch
