Quick question for the group.
Have a 97 3.2 Jackaroo and are removing the injectors to have them seviced while i do the timing belt and fix a rocker cover oil leak.
Have got the fuel rail exposed, ready to remove it and get to the injectors. Anybody got any tips on how to remove the rail from the injectors? Service manual is pretty vague on how to do this.

Removing Jackaroo Fuel Injectors - Any Tips

not sure if the 97 3.2L in the Jack is identical to the one in my 2000 Frontera, but I have just done the 160k service myself and replaced timing belts, pulleys and water pump and ventured further by removing the intake plenum and stripped it down for an internal clean and had the injectors bench flow tested and cleaned while it was all off.
The manual was a bit hit and miss. But looking back now I'd take the EGR unit off first to help you get your hand and a 12mm spanner behind the block. The two fuel feeds that come up each side are held by a plate with two 12mm bolts. If you can get them out then the rail will lift off more to give you access to the hose clamps to release the rail.
The injectors will stay with the rail. Remove the clips on the injectors and then they will wiggle out. Good luck.

Without a reply i re-read the manual, took a deep breath and dived in. Was pretty much as you described. except i had to remove the inlet manifold as well. Couldn't get the fuel supply and return pipework free from the thermostat housing pipework.
Had the injectors serviced and boy does it make a difference. power up, no more flat spots and much improved fuel econ.
Because the wrong part was sent i didn't get to do the timing belt before i went away, so still have to do it. Did you do the tensioner? Holden wanted 2 arms and a leg for one. Where did you get yours and was the price "reasonable"?

I steer well clear of Holden when sourcing parts. I purchased the Timing belt, Belt Tensioner and Belt Idler as a kit off US ebay and payed using Paypal. Even with exchange and USPS Express postage it came to $205 aus. Say no more, and the parts were top notch. Visit ebay or go online and look up the www.theimportexperts.com Don't forget Trooper = Jackaroo and Rodeo = Frontera.
To get the Manifold gaskets, plenum gasket, and EGR gasket I had a mate in NY order for me then post over for a total off $150 aus. Unfortunately Maximum autoparts don't do paypal. They will do credit card, but way too much paper work for proof.
After all this I had the motor stripped and noticed the water pump had been weeping and there was a green crystal trail under it, so went to repco and just bought a new one for $170. Probably should have had that sent over as well. Best replace the water pump at this point regardless.
Recently changed out the O2 sensors on the 150k service. Bought both for less than $200 aus from www.getgmparts.com in the US. They take credit cards without too much trouble and were good to deal with. Actual DELPHI original part. Perfect and no issues.
Had my injectors bench cleaned and utrasonic cleaned and flow tested as well. Idles smoother and feels crisper. But that could be the combination of new belts and all the cleaning. Worst injector was on 7% down on best injector.
So, hopefully all will be sweet for some time to come now after that mega service.
Oh, also running Shell Helix Eco 10W-30 now which is helping. This one is synthetic but I'd run a mineral equivalent. Fuchs and Pennzoil market a 10W-30. The lower viscosity at 30 is probabaly as low as I'd go on this motor. Will have to watch consupmtion.
Also did compression test and was happy to see lowest was 195psi and highest 205psi, so all sweet there as well.

Just on the subject of getting stuff from US, there is another mob you may like to try in future if you need bits, they're called "rockauto.com" I got a few bits off them, payed using paypal and was very happy, so much cheaper than local GMH dealer and the parts look great and work perfectly
