front end "clunk"

Hi,

I have a 4.2TD GU with a 3" lift and it is making a clunking noise when i load the suspension (generally on a left hand turn). The noise seems to be coming from the Driver side front. I have just done the wheel bearings and that didn't help, i also tested it with the sway bar out which made no difference. In my manual it lists most of the front susp./steering components to check which i have checked the nuts etc are tight. Not sure how to check the tie rod ends though.

Can anyone suggest where else to look?

Oh, BTW i just had it serviced at Blackburn Nissan and asked them to check as well. They first said it was the swaybar til i told them it was still there when i took the swaybar out. They then said that my springs weren't seated properly and they had fixed that and got rid of the noise. No such luck!

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mark

The rubbers between the chassis and the body can get slop between them. this will give a clunking noise when steering from left to right. This could be the cause of your noise.

My panard bolt at the chassis was a bit loose so my panard clunked when I turned from lock to lock. It didn't look or feel loose and it happened more in the wet or turning the wheel hard when rockhopping. Tightened it up and no more clunk...... except for the body mounts!

Thanks Guys. What don't you guys know about Nissans??

The front right body mount was a little bit loose. Will take it for a test run later to double check.

If only Nissan knew their cars that well!

Cheers,
Mark :D
