100 series roof rack for touring

I've got a metal roof rack which I built for my GQ patrol but am contemplating modifying it to fit my 100 series cruiser - (Obviously in terms of the gutter mounting arrangement).

I'm not one to do things like this by halves, but would like to know if the following arrangement would be suitable for touring purposes:

- Would 3 factory toyota sports racks be strong enough to mount the roof rack frame (replica of an ARB tradesman rack) to using u-bolts or similar? Do you think that these three bars would be suitable to handle sideways loading and vibrations handed out by corrugations with weight on them?

My other option is to cut off the legs which the GQ arrangement used and manufacture some new mounts to suit the internal gutters of the 100 series wagon. I think this option would give greater piece of mind when days away from civilization.......

I guess I've already answered my own question here and know which would be the most reliable option - but would like to know what anyone else thinks regarding this.............

I await your replies.

Regards

Anthony.

I got my hands on a alloy rack to suit a discovery. Took to it with a grinder to lop the superlong disco legs off it. went to supercheap and got 4 of those universal gutter mount roof bars and some u bolts. Good as gold, have taken it fully loaded on many long trips, no worries.
